No power outages have been reported as a result of a vehicle striking a power pole Monday afternoon at East 21st Street and Cherry Avenue in Merced, according to PG&E officials. The incident was reported around 3 p.m. after the vehicle hit the pole, and the driver continued traveling westbound on 21st Street. The driver was eventually pulled over by officers on East Santa Fe Avenue, according to Sgt. Bobby Chapman. Chapman said the power pole is damaged, but still standing. Officers are still at the scene, speaking with the driver. The intersections of 22nd Street and Cherry Avenue, Union Avenue and East 21st Street, and East 21st Street and Highland Drive have been closed to traffic, while PG&E officials assess the damage to the pole.
