No proposal to enhance honorarium of Panchayat members: Govt Government on Saturday said it had no proposal for enhancement of honorarium of Sarpanchs and Panchs saying that a series of steps were taken to empower Panchayat Raj Institutions in the state. Minister in-charge Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, in a written reply to a query of Congress legislator Ghulam Nabi Monga said a series of steps were taken to empower PRIs in the state. On the enhancement of honorarium of Sarpanchs and Panchs, the reply stated the government was paying monthly honorarium of Rs 2000 a month to the Sarpanchs and Rs 1000 a month to Panchs. “Similarly Rs 500 is being paid to each sitting of Sarpanchs and Panchs,” reads the written reply.
