No quippy engagement question today. Were so terribly sad, here at Sweatpants & Coffee, to hear of Robin Williams death. Not just that he died, but that he struggled with depression and lost. Many of us here suffer from depression, so maybe thats why were texting each other in tears, combing the internet for video clips and interviews, trying to make sense of the senseless. We grew up watching Robin Williams. He made us laugh and cry and feel things. Maybe its because we grew up watching him. I am one hundred percent certain that you have someone in your life who has depression. That person might be you. There are probably several someones. Some you know about, some you dont. The point is this: depression is a dirty liar. It tells you that theres no point, that you cant make it another minute, that you cant get out of bed and take a shower. It tells you that youre all alone and medicine and therapy wont help. IT LIES. Within our intrepid team of writers, editors, and admins alone, you, dear depression sufferer, have a community. Its crazy (pun intended) how many of us have The Anxiety and The Depression. We joke about it. Sometimes we cry and commiserate about it. We remind each other to take our medicine and feed our bodies good food and to move around and get fresh air. Were trying to walk each other home, as Ram Dass says. You are not alone.
