No response yet from MN Senators Al Franken or Amy Klobuchar as the numbers of civilians killed has gone up 5 or 6 fold since the petition was delivered. Out of desperation, as we cant just watch this killing continue without trying to do something, Ive been posting the following comment on their FB pages too. Asking others to help do the same with their own elected politicians either via hard mail or personal office visit. Obama calls those of us sanctimonious who oppose the use of torture, which of course violates U.S. and international law, blaming the various kidnappings, torture and murders on the fear and hysteria engendered by 9-11. This implies that the exceptional, indispensable Superpower U.S. can ignore the rule of law when it chooses. The law, however, including the law of war, allows of no exception for such emergencies. This reality explains a lot, including our unconditional support for whatever Israel does, even its current genocide and the murder of hundreds of children, no matter what laws Israel breaks. The Geneva Convention is as clear as the Convention Against Torture: The presence within the civilian population of individuals who do not come within the definition of civilians does not deprive the population of its civilian character. icrc.org/ihl/WebART/470-750064?OpenDocument
