No, salary is NOT why Im on strike. (While I dont believe its fair, I would accept the govts salary offer on the table in a heartbeat if they funded class size & comp adequately in return - and actually followed through, unlike the last time we agreed to that deal!) And since its repeatedly used to vilify teachers, I almost hate to draw attention to it. BUT since there seems to be no escaping it anyhow, Id like to point out that a part of ANY new contract negotiation between employees & employer involves a request for more money. And I have no problem admitting that yes, I do deserve a raise, that at least keeps me on par with inflation AND (contrary to govt media spin) is in fairness with what others have gotten.
