No way back, no way out. It was never a slow turn around. There were no demons. Life was a bubble. Burst by some trouble I had, and boy did it come. At first I shuffled along, And every other word was ‘left-lung’ The jokes – well I stopped bringing them. There was a black hole behind me – about as big as a full stop from a marker pen, But they couldn’t find a smoking gun. I could eat for 21, and clothes fell off me, That was then. At heaven’s gate – before the ground opened up beneath me. That was about – let me just figure it out. Jan 97’ – still had my faculties. Everybody loved me – oh the irony. People had my back – they were my friends. A couple who still float in - every now and again. – A blessing! I felt like I was centre of the radar, But it was all for show, And so, as must people evolved, Steady and slow. And then there was me. I looked back. I could hear the molten laver, See the gap widening, Credibility had smashed trough the window, There was something growing inside of me, Seven years or so as a hermit, Then… big pause, stable – a bit more – I’m running hard on less air! Head clamps galore…self-medicating attempts – I’m managing on 50 %. The damage had been done. – Like it had slowed down or something. Escape at all cost. By George! I was even telling people This could be my last Christmas, open up any and every box, I want to sign off in a blaze of glory! Hellish existence – especially when you’ve seen the garden. No – there were no demons – but now there bloody are. The beat of one bang – per day on that silent drum. Like I needed to sell out again – thanks chum! An older broad, a broad mind, Could have sounded sinister and so back-handed, I’d have to move abroad! But I’ve been around a while – I haven’t just landed. Replication from the right hand – but no right hand man – then socially abandoned. – Again! So backward it must all sound – demise of a maverick crusader, I’m praying ‘third time lucky’ with the next “space invader”.
