No winner or Loser for the Afghan Stolen Elections: Dear friends - TopicsExpress

No winner or Loser for the Afghan Stolen Elections: Dear friends and colleagues ! As you are well aware, today in an official ceremony at the Presidential Palace of Afghanistan ARG an official agreement which outlines the framework of pretty much a coalition government was signed between the two contenders of the elections. This event clearly signifies that the elections did not produce any winner since there was massive fraud committed in favor of a particular political camp. And the opposing team was not ready to accept the results . The blame for this goes to the government of Afghanistan which lacked the will to hold a fair, transparent and inclusive elections. Particularly, Mr. Karzai, who has been sitting as a king manipulating and conspiring how he would be able to install a stooge so that he can relax in the aftermath years of leaving the office. Nevertheless, this is a victory for the people of Afghanistan as they awaited eagerly for a while to witness a democratic peaceful transition of power which finally today occurred as a result of intense negotiations. Now that a national unity government is taking charge in Afghanistan, my hope and expectations are that deep and broad reforms across the board must be implemented in all three branches of the government. I firmly believe that this could be done by the selection of Mr. Ghani as the President and Dr. Abdullah as the Chief Executive Officer with expanded authorities. The last 13 year experiences in Afghanistan demonstrated that a highly centralized presidential system is not able to deliver services to the Afghan people . This model may work for some countries, but not for Afghanistan because of manifold reasons such as ethnicity, demography and the dominant political culture. Therefore, Im optimistic that the present political deal between the two Presidential candidates would result for the betterment of the country at least than Mr. Karzais era. Lets hope for a better tomorrow for our country!
