Nobody wants to see dogs outside 24/7, but few people step up to - TopicsExpress

Nobody wants to see dogs outside 24/7, but few people step up to adopt. It may seem intimidating. We get it. We tell you that you have to be patient. The world is not. We cant give you absolute answers about behaviors (you have to tread slowly and take our advice). But despite any potential bumps in terms of socializing/potty training, former 24/7 outside dogs can transform into the best companion youll ever know (past A.S.K. adopters can tell you all about the gift of rescuing dogs like these)! So WHERE are these dogs going if people dont open their homes and give them a chance? Most rescues wont even take the responsibility on. Every once in awhile someone extraordinary comes into our lives and becomes a HERO for a former chained dog. This time that HERO took on TWO former 24/7 outside dogs! Its only been 24hrs, but share us in congratulating the new family on their TWO new TRUE RESCUE dogs! We are so grateful to them! HISTORY: A.S.K. worked with these dogs for 3+years, making improvements from short chains and terribly depreciated doghouses, to brand new igloos, long tie-outs, and eventually a fenced in yard with the family beginning to bring them inside for brief periods of time. Unfortunately a neighbor began to maliciously threaten the dogs-through the fence. Police were called and the dogs were put back on chains out of fear that theyd be poisoned while no one was home. We were in the process of re-evaluating their fence setup when the family told us that theyd be leaving state and due to breed restrictions, would not be able to take the dogs with them. Instead of allowing someone to chain their dogs in another backyard, they sought our services and we found what we hope will be a perfect, lifelong match. Their fence setup will be taken down and used for another desperate dog in the future. *Some of you will remember Solo and our battle to get him to accept another toy vs. a metal pan. Eventually he fell in love with a Kong fetch donated by Carrie M. and a new doghouse donated by Sara T., two of the fabulous supporters who helped these dogs, amongst many others over the years who supported the funding for their fence, straw and dog food support.
