Noel Update!!!! Noel has had a pretty remarkable week. She got to experience Christmas and presents for the first time. She has had the benefit of two full weeks of being warm, fed, and loved likely for the first time in her life. And now, she has landed in the arms of one of our greatest foster Moms, Auntie Em! Two weeks ago, when Noel arrived, she could barely stand up. She squealed every time she moved because she had such bad pain in her hips. She couldnt even manage to find her water or food bowl without substantial help. She slept almost all day every day and seemed to be in a permanently confused, uncomfortable state. Even though Noel has been with Auntie Em just a few days, we are already seeing remarkable progress. Noel quickly learned the floor plan of her new surroundings and has been much more interactive. She seems to be able to see lights and shadows and has been seeking out her Auntie Em for love and kisses. Auntie Em was shocked to see Noel display her maternal side when she went up to one of the other dogs in the house and begin cleaning their ears. She wagged her tail in delight when she found a pup to mother. Her appetite has come back and her hip pain is exponentially better. Today, Noel has her first appointment with the ever fabulous and always brilliant Dr. Norm Stillman in Plymouth, MA. We are excited to work out the details of her treatment plan and continue her on this remarkable path of recovery. It is always impossible to know what the future holds for dogs like Noel who have so many medical problems, but we feel confident that this little girl feels infinitely better than she did when this photo was snapped just 20 days ago!
