Nominated by Hermela Gebremariam for the ALS #IceBucketChallenge!! While there has been a fair amount of debate lately over the somewhat superficial direction things have taken with this viral craze, the heart of the matter remains intact: raising funds for and awareness of debilitating diseases such as ALS. ...so a little water was wasted, but a monumental conversation has been started. As of yesterday, the ALS association has received 31.5 million dollars in donations compared to the 1.9 million during the same time frame last year. Never underestimate the significance of contributing to a good cause, even in the silliest of ways. First day of volleyball practice with my junior high team = enthusiastic drenching of the coach and a few little lessons on the precious gift of life.
