Nominations Open for Citizen of the Year 2013 Guymon, Oklahoma – Get out your pen and paper! Nominations for the Citizen of the Year are now open. Each year the Guymon City Council asks for the residents of Guymon to nominate someone special in the community as the “Citizen of the Year.” The recipient is awarded a plaque by the Mayor of Guymon during the annual Chamber of Commerce banquet which will be held Oct. 10. In addition, the winner receives $500 from the F. Hiner Dale Award Fund to donate to the non-profit organization of his or her choice. If you are a resident of Guymon and know of someone that lives in Guymon that has given their time and talents to special projects or organizations, please send in their name, contact information, and a brief biography of their history and service to the Guymon community. Nominations can be emailed, mailed or delivered to the City of Guymon Community Development office at 802 NE 6th Street or you can fax the nomination to the Community Development office at 338-1854. Nominations will only be accepted until 5pm on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013. Nominations received after that time will not be accepted.
