Non-Brutus Story Today I (Laura O) went to my local animal - TopicsExpress

Non-Brutus Story Today I (Laura O) went to my local animal shelter to pick up some kittens to transport to Denver. On the way into the shelter, a man with a home-made wooden crate was also walking in the door. He explained to the lady at the front desk, that he had been feeding this stray cat and that it came back injured one day and now puss was seeping from the wound and he needed to be put down. If you know me - you know where this is going. :) I asked if he could hold off on signing the cat over to be put down and allow me to make a few calls. The kittens could not leave with me today, but the cat in the wooden box did. :) (It took me about 25 min to get the screws out of that box to get to the cat!) Tonight, that cat, now Sylvester, got a good work up by Dr Barb. He had his puncture wounds cleaned out, was tested for bad kitty diseases (all negative - but he will need retesting in a few months), got a Rabies shot, was weighed (15 pounds) and amazingly - he is already neutered! The bad news is, the bite wounds in his head are deep and he has 2 skull fractures. We actually removed a pretty good sized piece of bone. But, she is confident he will heal. Where will he heal? For now, with me. Where will he live after? Hopefully in a loving home! He will soon be available for adoption. I was in the right place at the right time today and luckily for Sylvester, I was there. He now has a chance. Please think good thoughts for his head to heal. He is eating and drinking and has no neurological signs of problems. He is GORGEOUS. These photos do not do him justice. Thank you! Laura O
