Nondescripts CC vs Kings OBs, Alexandria Oval, 12/10/14 Season - TopicsExpress

Nondescripts CC vs Kings OBs, Alexandria Oval, 12/10/14 Season 2014/15 kicked off with a convincing 100 run win over Kings OBs, as we posted a tidy 4/188 from 35 before routing the opposition for 88 in the 22nd over. After losing the toss, the Nondos were sent in to bat on a cratered wicket that looked like a French town square during The Great War – one of the worst strips many of us had seen in years. Despite this, conditions were fairly benign and opener Rob Thompson scored freely from the outset. Liam Cole was an early casualty, caught behind for 1, but Chong Lim helped build a nice partnership of 54, before being bowled by a loopy delivery after compiling 17 of his own. Rob was then joined by new skipper Viv Samdarshi and the runs began to flow as the Kings bowling became increasingly ragged. Rob raised a maiden Nondos 50 and proceeded to kick on. By the time he was stumped for a stellar 80, the score was 128/3. Scoob Cohen strode out at 5 and helped himself to a brisk 25 not out, with Viv falling in the final over trying to clear the pickets – not before raising the bat himself with a composed 51. With roughly 5.5 an over to defend our 10 men took the field in high spirits. The Kings line up proved to be rich pickings for our attack with opening bowlers Lockie Davies and Tom Colebatch taking advantage of some technically sus opposition from ball one. Locko returned now customary figures of 3/10 from 7 overs, while Toms 2/15, could have been 4 after a Professor Plum LBW was waved away and another batsman played on to his castle with the bails stubbornly refusing to dislodge. Scoob Cohen had a few overs hell happily consign to the history books before Liam Cole stepped up to bowl. Smelling blood and with batsman using pads as defence, Liam treated himself to 3 scalps for just the one run off 3 overs. With the game shot to bits, Chongie Lim bowled the number 10 before Scoob added gloss to his figures, trapping the last man LBW. In all 5 Kings men were bowled and 5 adjudged LBW in one of the more curious batting performances Ive seen. Credit also to new man Tim Philips who put body on the line behind the stumps on a most keeper-unfriendly wicket. So, a solid win and good preparation for what will be a sterner test at Northbridge Oval this Sunday when we take on IZs in our first Jack Pace Shield game.
