Norm Commented: One seldom hears an invitation from priests to seek out a spiritual director. Are priests these days (in the U.S. for example) generally equipped and trained in their seminary years to be spiritual directors? Reply: Priests are equipped in a general sense in that they have studied moral and dogmatic theology and, of course, they have the special graces of their ordination. Coupled with a serious interior life, these can be more than sufficient to help those just beginning to take their spiritual lives more seriously.
