Normally East Rutherford NJ wouldnt be my first choice for a cool wet October morning. But our partners ( and really close friends) Millenium Homes did an OUTSTANDING JOB creating The Monarch - a 300 unit luxury rental apartment complex directly across from MetLife Stadium; on our mutual behalves, (along with giant CALPERS). Interestingly - this 4 acre parcel and ~30~ acre protected view-wetland behind the pool ; are the last 35ish acres remaining from my mother Naomis father , who was smart enough to buy half the Meadowlands ( thousands of acres; 4 miles from the Lincoln Tunnel) in the 1960s ! - but the family lost it all (including chunks to stadium parking lots and Rte.3 highway 16E exit ramps) because my uncle refused to share with my mom and their 4 sisters. I think the family spent $14MM in 1983 bucks on legal fees......fighting with each other while the whole caboodle was stripped away; and while right next to it the Hartz mountain pet food Stern family who owned the other half of the meadowlands; built around $4BB worth of development on their tracts over 20 years. We had approvals to do the very same. But for that one uncle.....theres always one uncle , right ? Nice rentals though. NYC-nice but only like $2500 for a big 2 bedroom. Trains & buses every 20 minutes into NYC.... The fight was so legendary and unprecedented in NJ that the cable TV news had to ascribe characters from the TV show Dallas to us - so people knew who wore the black cowboy hats, and who were the good guys. Of course my Dad was assigned Bobby Ewing, and naturally the greedy uncle was JR Ewing. Cant make this shit up.
