Normally, I do not post my personal life events on this page but since we are behind on several things including the Angel Paws Tree Gift Distribution, I do want to make everyone aware of what is going on. I am Chesters foster mom. His health has been declining for the past month. He has been hospitalized and is now receiving around the clock care. I have spent almost two weeks working with our veterinarian trying to obtain a medication that would have benefitted Chester only to learn that it is covered in FDA red tape. Chester is my priority right now. It will not be business as usual at Pound Pals until he gets the medication he needs or crosses over. In addition to Chesters critical care, we had a house last week which has left us with only half the electricity in our home working. We are waiting on our electrician to get our home repaired. We have no idea when that will be. In the meanwhile, emails, PMs, etc will be answered as soon as we can answer them. Please do not expect an immediate answer. If you are emailing us about a death row senior - do not wait on a reply - contact other rescues. Over the holidays, we lost seven seniors. We have also pulled five seniors from death row since Christmas. Both of these events require additional volunteer time spent on fundraising, transporting, processing applications. etc. Intake vetting is a priority here so for the past week and half we have had constant vet visits. Anytime a foster takes their foster dog to the vet, I meet them there to handle the transaction so any day there is a vet visit involved - that entire day is taken. As a result, I am behind on many things and at this point, I cannot make any promises as to when I will be caught up. The Angel Paws Tree has always been our favorite program but it takes a massive amount of volunteer time and work. We cover several large service areas so our fosters are spread throughout our service areas. Gifts will be delivered. Photos will be taken and posted as soon as possible. We had more seniors in our program in 2014 than in any previous year. Accordingly, we will be making revisions to the Angel Paws Tree Program for 2015 which will reduce the volunteer work load required for the program. Pound Pals is an all volunteer based rescue which means our volunteers and fosters have day jobs. Unfortunately, we dont enjoy the benefit of having a full time staff like some rescues do. Every donated dollar at this rescue goes toward the care of our seniors (not to pay salaries). Pound Pals is a lot like a MASH Unit. Schedules change daily depending on the priority. We appreciate your understanding. KT
