Normally, I would prefer to ask about the methods utilized by each individual when crafting a costume, and to have them enact a short scene from their respective series on stage. That would be the two biggest deciding factors for me when it comes to determining who gets a prize in a competition. However, it wasnt possible due to the time constraints and sheer volume of contestants at PAX East 2014. 89 registrants in a single competition is no joke, especially considering how Singapore normally sees only 20 to 30 cosplayers on stage on average (though we also make planned performances a mandatory component). Ill share more of my thoughts when I process all the photos and compose something on paper.
