Normally we wouldnt post such a scenario but we would like some help from our supporters especially as its in relation to our charitable funds which have been raised solely by you, as our supporters so its only feasible that you get a say in something that potentially could cost a lot of money. Fairly recently we rehomed a 4 yr old hoggie by the name of Amy to what we thought would be a good adoptive owner. We are highly dismayed and disappointed in the individual who has decided to house Amy in with another female hoggie. Whilst we do acknowledge some owners do keep females together successfully we are unable to guarantee a rescue hoggies background and therefore it has always been our decision that rescue hogs are to be housed individually and our contracts clearly state this which all new adoptive owners have to sign. Amy is now an elderly hog who has either spent all of her life on her own or potentially might have been inappropriately housed with other hogs previously and therefore the sudden change of circumstances to sharing with another female could be highly distressing to her. We do not feel that the housing is of adequate size nor is the current owner experienced enough to safely monitor the scenario and it is an blatent disregard of our terms and conditions which the owner agreed to at the point of adoption. The current owner insists that Amy is happy and has been very rude and abrupt in our dealing with her and in our attempts to express our concerns. Our dilemma is now whether we spend valuable and limited rescue monies to fund legal action or simply put it down to experience and concentrate on the hogs that need the funds for veterinary care? Your thoughts and comments will help us make a decision.
