Norman Rubenstein has had to reluctantly step down from his role - TopicsExpress

Norman Rubenstein has had to reluctantly step down from his role as Co-Chair of the Bram Stoker Awards® Committee for personal reasons. All of you who know Norm and have interacted with him know the splendid job hes done, bringing a sharp mind and clarity to all that the Committee has done to administer and improve the Awards over recent years. Those of you who dont, thats attributable to the quiet and professional way he and Ron Breznay operate. Please join with me in thanking Norm for all his work over many years and wishing him the best for the future. Rena Mason has kindly agreed to replace Norm and serve with Ron Breznay as Awards Committee Co-Chair. Rena is a trained and certified Registered Nurse in oncology, home health care, and the operating room, retiring as the Assistant Director of Orthopedics in Denver, Colorado. Writing for nearly a decade, her works include The Evolutionist, winner of the 2013 Bram Stoker Award for Superior Achievement in a First Novel, and East End Girls a 2013 Bram Stoker Award® nominee for Superior Achievement in Long Fiction, along with a growing list of short stories. RIPPERS, a co-written screenplay, was a finalist in the 2013 Stage 32’s/ The Blood List Presents: The Search for New Blood Screenwriting Contest. An active volunteer, Rena has been the Head Compiler for the Bram Stoker Awards over the past few years, and also writes the Recently Born of Horrific Minds column for HWA’s Monthly Newsletter, along with the occasional article. She has served as a Literary Chair Committee Member for Horror on The Vegas Valley Book Festival, and has taken a recent interest in event planning. She looks forward to using her experiences to further develop the HWA and serving its members. We are also seeking two Assistant Compilers to work with current Assistant Patrick Freivald. This is of course a busy time of year and you will be trained. Allow four to six hours a week from now until mid-January, followed by a hiatus until at least mid-April. Then a slow ramp up over the year. Assistant Compilers must have a strict eye for detail and be diplomatic. One of the Assistants will be asked to take on the Compiler role.
