North Bar Lake is one of the few remaining lakes that has a natural outlet into Lake Michigan. The lake level fluctuates depending upon whether storm waves have closed the outlet, or the impounded water rises high enough to breach the sand bar and reopen the channel. The deepest part of North Bar is 35 feet, and can be found on the north end of the lake. Many visitors come here in the summer to enjoy the inland lake and Lake Michigan.
