Northampton’s North Street neighborhood is quiet once again NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – Pan Am railway has removed the rail cars that have been housing workers behind homes for several weeks. Workers improved the tracks for future high speed rail service. Some neighbors are happy to see them go. The neighbors had complained about the noise from the generators aboard the rail cars. Carolyn Kielec of Easthampton uses the nearby bike path. “Transportation in this country and the northeast needs to be improved and this is the way to do it.” The nearly month long rail improvements were in preparation for the high speed service between Northampton and Greenfield.
