Northeast - Locally heavy rainfall is likely through at least this morning in eastern Maine due to Arthur. - Additional rain generally 1-2 inches. - Rain will be ending from the west by this afternoon/evening. - Very windy in Maine, especially over the eastern sections - Mostly clear skies Saturday over the rest of the region. - Highs today mainly 70s to low 80s but cooler in northern New England. South - Most of the region will have a fine day today. - Some mainly afternoon thunderstorms over Florida and far southeast Georgia and southwest South Carolina. - A couple thunderstorms possible in the afternoon in south and southeast Texas. - Highs mostly in the 80s. Highs in the 90s for most of Texas and Florida as well as the immediate Gulf Coast. Midwest - Scattered showers and thunderstorms this AM in eastern Nebraska and Iowa. - Later today expect showers and thunderstorms from eastern Kansas and northern Missouri to eastern Minnesota and Wisconsin. By this evening and overnight more storms, some severe could form in North Dakota and northern Minnesota. - Highs mainly in the 80s and 90s. Some spots near the Great Lakes will remain in the 70s. West - Dry weather will prevail over much of the West. - Thunderstorms will again develop this afternoon across Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona. - Blowing dust in thunderstorms could reduce visibilities at times in the Southwest into the weekend. - A few showers will roam across far northwest sections of Washington State today. - Hot conditions for the Southwest and Interior West/Great Basin areas through the weekend. - Highs will likely approach 105 degrees at Las Vegas, NV and Phoenix, AZ. - Highs will range from the 90s to around 100 degrees from southern Idaho through the Great Basin. - Highs 60s to 80s Pacific NW.
