Northeast - Showers and thunderstorms (some severe with strong winds) from Upstate New York back to West Virginia Tuesday. - Thunderstorms could affect western New England by Tuesday evening. - The region will be very warm to hot and humid. - Highs 90 degrees and above in the Boston to Washington, D.C., corridor. - Other areas will see highs well into the 80s with high humidity levels. - The heat will relax across the region Wednesday. South - Much of the region will get away with mainly dry conditions Tuesday. - Some severe thunderstorms will be possible over parts of Kentucky and Tennessee. - Scattered thunderstorms around the Florida Peninsula. - Tuesday highs will be in the 90s across most of the region. - A slight reduction in temperatures across the Southeast by Thursday. Midwest - Tuesday will feature scattered showers and thunderstorms over the Great Lakes and parts of the Midwest. - Some thunderstorms could be severe from the lower Great Lakes to the Ohio Valley. - The main severe threat will be damaging winds. - It will be quite windy across the Upper Midwest. - Most of the Plains will have a dry Tuesday. - Highs around the Great Lakes will range from the cool low 60s to near 80. - Highs will be in the 80s from the central Plains to the Ohio Valley. - Much of Oklahoma will have to deal with highs in the 90s to around 100 degrees. West - The summer monsoon is in full swing across a good portion of the Southwest. - Higher humidity levels will lead to scattered thunderstorms, especially from Arizona and New Mexico up to Colorado. - Some thunderstorms can produce local flooding, while other can produce dust storms (or lightning-triggered fires). - Most of the rest of the region will be dry. - It looks like much of the northwest will be in for a hot spell for the rest of the week. - Areas from eastern Washington and Oregon down over to Idaho and down to Utah (lower elevations) will be well into the 90s. - Many of these areas will see triple-digit heat this week. - The fire danger will remain high all summer for California and it continues to increase in Oregon and Idaho. - If you want to cool off, highs will be in the 70s along the immediate coast of California
