Not To Stay There But Through It! Give thanks to him who led his people through the wilderness. His faithful love endures forever. Psalms 136:16 NLT The wilderness experience is not pleasant. The suffering brought on as a result from having to go through the wilderness can be intense. We lose a lot there. We lose friends, family members, possessions and positions. Then there are the thought; when will it end. Weeping may endure for a night or a season but rest assured that joy and peace is our God promised portion. God could have led the children of Israel out of Egypt through a more direct route. But that path would have been their doom. He considered their fragile faith and lack of trust in Him. In spite of the great demonstration of His power in delivering them from the bondage of slavery; they really did not know or trust God. He also recognized that they were not prepared to handle or ready to receive their promised blessing. It was through the wilderness experience their hearts were tried and their trust in Him was developed. God had to deliver His people from a slavery and bondage mindset so that they could walk in kingdom mentality. This was necessary so that they could fully appreciate what He had already given them. The process that is necessary to change a mindset is not the same as changing clothes. It requires deliberate effort on our part to submit to the mental, emotional and spiritual detoxification of the heart, mind and spirit by the washing of the water of the word of Gods truth. It is a total re-configuration of how we think and perceive life around us in light of the revealed insights of God. It sounds easy but it is a process that will take us to extremes emotionally and cognitively. It will also challenge every principle and precept we have lived by that is contrary and contradicts the truth of God. The best place to establish and affirm anything is in the absence of everything. The wilderness is that place. God knows our limits and the extremes we can endure. The Lord will never allow us to be overwhelmed by the process of the wilderness experience. When the enemy comes in; like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord is there as our comforter to lift up a standard against Him. The Almighty God is ever mindful of us and He will bless us. We are never forsaken and God will not abandon the work of His hands. He leads His people through the wilderness; not to stay there, but to bring His people out on the other side competent, capable and completely whole in every way to walk into their place of destiny in Him. Rejoice and worship in His presence! You are coming into your place. Amen! Apostle S. Louis Johnson
