Not a Golden State Warriors fan, yet respect for Steph Curry, dude - TopicsExpress

Not a Golden State Warriors fan, yet respect for Steph Curry, dude is nuts. Question: Does Stephen Curry having a better jump shot(1) than Lebron James make him currently a better offensive(2) player (in a 5 on 5 setting)? Yup! Because what characterizes an offensive player firstly is his or her jump shot. Let me explain. I believe what has marked offensive greatness in the guard and forward positions historically in the NBA was if the player had a pure, consistent jump shot added to their repertoire (of course there are a few exceptions). Also, the center position is another story, the center is not expected to have an unstoppable jump-shot (maybe thatll change in the NBA). Take a look at Jordan, imagine him without his unstoppable pull up and fadeaway jump shot, or the pure shooting from Larry Bird, the sharp shooting from Jerry West and Oscar Robertson imagine them without that pure jump shot, they wouldnt have gone down as NBA legends. The consistent jumper was one of the main skills that marked a great offensive player at the guard and forward positions in the NBA. I believe one cant last long in the NBA or be in the NBA top 100 of all time (but who cares) at the 1, 2, 3 position if you dont have a pure, creative jumper that goes in consistently, unless youre A.) a quick defensive specialist or B.) a lengthy rebound getting madman, or C.) hyped up from the slam dunk contest (mid 80s and 90s) or played a pivotal part in the marketing of the ABA/NBA merger that it carries over to the end of the players career. Lebrons jumper has improved tremendously later on (3) in his career, but yet still its nothing compared to what Curry could do with it, especially off the dribble from behind the arc. -- (1) being able to do more with the jump shot off the dribble, stopping on a dime and pulling up, time of release and arc, current fg% and 3 point fg%, & consistency (2) Im not talking about best player overall or best defensively, but strictly talking about offense on a 5 on 5 setting. (3) Lebron is against the norm here, usually NBA players that shoot the lights out later on in their careers come already to the NBA with a solid, working shot and improve early on with focused adjustments to their jumper. i.e., Jordan, Kobe, Curry. youtube/watch?v=rmmDsZzBnds
