Not a great weekend for us! Last night as Kyle and our friend Nic Dewsnup were working in our basement, acid staining some concrete floor in a storage room, the acetone somehow caught fire causing an explosion! I was making dinner in the kitchen when a large burst of air came up and threw up the sheet we had hanging to keep the dust down. I ran to the stairs where there was a bright orange glow and sparks started flying up into the main floor! I saw Kyle and Nic stumbling to get up the stairs, once up, Kyle was rolling on the ground trying to make sure the fire was out! His pants had burned off! We ran outside(Luckily Ezra was already out and Jovi was by my side) a neighbor called 911 and took my kids! To make a long story short, Kyle is in the burn unit ICU at the U, he has 2nd degree burns to his hands, arms, and legs (12%)! Nic has a few minor burns on his arms and some singed hair. Kyle thought he was going to die when the explosion happened! The room was fully engulfed in flames and they had to run through fire to get out! He truly is lucky to be alive! Our street was lined with firetrucks! I am so overwhelmed with gratitude for all the help we received instantly! Our neighbors, friends, and family were there in seconds! I had no shoes when I went to get in the ambulance and was immediately given some straight off my neighbors feet! Our fridge and freezer food was taken to the neighbors so it didnt spoil! A neighbor brought us food and other necessities to the hospital last night as we waited. We have received several texts and calls. We were only a few weeks away from FINALLY finishing our basement! Although I am pretty upset about my house with the all the new remodeling we have worked so hard on, but all that is just stuff and can be replaced, I am so grateful that I still have a husband! The storage room is charred but the rest of the house is just super stinky! Kyle is doing well and will fully recover(approx 10-15 days)! THANK YOU to all those that were there for us last night!!! I will post pics soon! The U has horrible cell service and I have had a hard time getting connected!
