“Not a word failed of any good thing which the Lord had spoken - TopicsExpress

“Not a word failed of any good thing which the Lord had spoken to the house of Israel. All came to pass.” Joshua 21:45 (NKJV) Beginning at verse 43 of the chapter you will find that God had given Israel everything that He had sworn to give Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and now they had taken possession of all of it, and they, as a nation and as a people would now dwell there. Not a man of any of their enemies stood in their way. No one could come against them and be victorious, and if they even attempted to do so, God delivered the enemy into the hands of His people. The historical context of the passage is to Israel, but the application is proper and powerful for all of God’s children. Moreover, was the reminder and assurance that God’s word had never failed them. Everything that the Lord said He would do came to pass. Every promise that He uttered from His lips and allowed His prophets to declare was ultimately fulfilled. Even in the midst of a constantly failing, fallible, and faithless people, God’s word always remained true. It was the only consistent area in a journey of epic proportions. Friend’s fail us, family fails us, employers fail us, business partners fail us, government fails us, the educational system fails us, doctors fail us, lawyers fail us, investors fail us, banks and financial institutions fail us, marriages fail, relationships fail but hallelujah, God’s word has never ever failed us. Now let’s be clear about something. When God says no to us concerning a promise that He has made to us in His word, does not mean that God’s word has failed us; nor does it necessarily indicate that we have failed God. While the latter is more plausible than the former, God’s word has not failed us. There will be times that God chooses, as a result of His sovereignty not to grant us our desires. This could be for many reasons that will mostly never be known to us. In fact, the times that God has said no and when we agonized, and stressed ourselves believing that God’s word had failed us were really the times that God just may have saved our life. Then there is the unique possibility where we have misplaced our priorities. We have mixed our wants with our needs. And now what we need, we don’t want and what we want we don’t need. When we exhibit motives that are “amiss”, it is clear that we have failed God and not that He has failed us or His word. Don’t get it twisted. Just because something hasn’t happened for you yet, keep trusting, keep believing, keep fasting, and keep praying. At the end of the day, God will do just what He has said. We may not be ready to receive it; we may not be prepared to believe it. But God will do just what He has said. Don’t let the troubles of our nation and the world cause you angst or alarm. God’s word will never fail. “The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever.” Isaiah 40:8 (NKJV)
