Not all Swiss are xenophobic; however, it seems that many have had enough of immigration from the EUSSR. Which other places are available for EUSSR citizens to escape to, that in theory at least dont require big money or spousal links? Alderney (States of Guernsey) Dominica (about 105k USD gets citizenship, not sure if good value) Iceland (but watch out for their capital controls, which makes inward financial investment more risky) Isle of Man Liechtenstein Norway including (if you really must) Svalbard/Jan Mayen Panama (establish shell company and deposit 5k USD?) AFAIK the Falkland Islands, St Helena and the British West Indies DONT take kindly to immigration, including that of Britons but excluding that of the wealthy (upper seven digits USD and beyond). Gibraltar is politically within the EUSSR, though regarded separately for Customs purposes, and the bloody Spaniards cause no end of political trouble there. The permanent tourist approach has many appeals, including a legal escape from all kinds of tax obligations (income, capital gain, etc., assuming youre not a citizen of the USA, the Philippines or Eritrea, all of which have the audacity to claim extraterritorial tax powers), not to mention the near impossibility of obtaining permanent-resident permits; the major drawback is probably the greater expense of short-term accommodation over longer-term fixed. swissinfo.ch/eng/swiss_news/Anti-migration_initiatives_have_long_tradition.html?cid=37911176
