Not an uncommon story! I know some Black doctors who still dress - TopicsExpress

Not an uncommon story! I know some Black doctors who still dress like what many would call "thugs" under and without their white coats. Other professionals (including some pastors) have been known to look like this at times as well. At one of my favorite buffets today, a middle-aged, Black man sat at a table near my husband and me. During the entire time that this man dined, he wore dark sunglasses, even as he made several trips to the food islands. He had on worn black jeans, a long-sleeved shirt with three patterns, and his shirttails were untucked. A relatively conservative-looking, older Black gentleman who was passing by stopped at his table and said, "How are you today, Bishop?" I looked around and said to myself, "Bishop!" Most whom I know and who call themselves "Bishop" dress like big-city pimps to me, or they look like the ones whom Jesus talks about in Luke 20:45-47. I was tempted to lean over toward the bishop and tell him that I was impressed to see him relaxed and comfortable. Yes, we all tend to profile others in one way or another. But James 2 and other scriptures teach us to be careful not to do so. We must strive to have the mind of Christ who, like God, looks at our hearts and not at our outer appearance - not even our race. Thanks, Browndoll, for passing on the message. BettyeC #pressup
