Not in time for our WRFI broadcast, but better late than never...This week on Skeptical Sunday we learn on Freethought Radio that a federal judge gave the green light for the FFRF to proceed in their 3rd ongoing lawsuit against the IRS. Then, Annie Laurie and Dan interview Joe Muto, a former employee of Fox News and an associate producer of The O’Reilley Factor, author of the new book An Atheist in the Foxhole: A Liberal’s Eight-Year Odyssey Inside the Heart of the Right-Wing Media. After Freethought Radio, we hear about the dangerous business of being a skeptic in India. On the morning of August 20 in Pune, India, one well known Indian skeptic, 67-year-old Narendra Dabholkar who was pushing for a bill to ban black magic and exploitative practices by seers and holy men was gunned down by two individuals on motorbikes. We hear about this tragedy from the skeptic rogues of the Skeptics Guide to Universe who also interview Indian skeptic-in-exile, Sanal Edamaruku. More than a year ago, Mr. Edamaruku had to flee from his homeland after he explained how a statue of Christ could be dripping water due to non-miraculous causes. The supposed “crime” was punishable with up to three years in prison in addition to a fine. Finally, we’ll hear a “For Good Reason” podcast from the archives. Host D.J. Grothe talks to philosopher Massimo Pigliucci about his book “Nonsense on Stilts” and the “demarcartion” problem: how does one distinguish science and pseudoscience? 8-10 AM on WRFI, 88.1 FM in Ithaca and 91.9 FM in Watkins Glen, 10 PM on Geneva Community Radio (genevaradio.blogspot) and any time from the website link below.
