Not just on Thanksgiving but EVERYDAY I’m thankful for USA Powerlifting. I appreciate the fact that I’m able to coach, compete, referee, and chair a committee within the country’s largest, most prestigious, and professional powerlifting organization. I see it as a tremendous blessing in my life and I do not take it lightly. Frankly, USAPL is the only American powerlifting federation I have any desire to be associated with. I’m thankful for the administration, coaches, referees, and every single person linked to USAPL. Most of all, I’m thankful for the competitors. Powerlifting has been, is, and always will be (mostly) about the lifters. Those who actually step into the arena and lay it on the line … no matter how novice or elite, are all valuable in my eyes and command more respect than those who only talk about competing. I’m thankful that USAPL offers two formats of competition: equipped and raw. At least we have a choice and although we occasionally frustrate one another with our disagreements, it shows we actually care. Thanks to everyone who throws their hand in the pile to help make the USAPL and powerlifting in general one of the most amazing sports to be a part of. God bless you all today. We have so much to be thankful for.
