Not looking to start anything; but what are your views on bitless riding? I can ride my OTTB tackless, with a neck rope, anything & he is really chill and responsive all because the base of my riding is in my leg. Though recently Ive started to dabble into bitless bridles [rope bridle & Micklem] and while it may certainly be DIFFERENT and Ill have to tweak our communication, Ive noticed an improvement. For example, sometimes my horse will throw his head and rush through a flying lead change on the flat, but give me it auto while jumping. Today we rode in our bitless rope bridle and we probably got the best on-the-flat change in a long long while! Just wanted to discuss the topic (: When I do ride in a bit, I ride in a loose ring rubber mullen so Im really trying to be as soft as possible; but rider error does happen.
