Not many people that delve into Zim politics are as privileged as - TopicsExpress

Not many people that delve into Zim politics are as privileged as I am: I am a very proud Zambian and the Story of My Life is, by Gods grace, evenly distributed between Zambia and Zimbabwe. I grew up in Zimbabwe. My family supported the armed struggle and I remember the tailors at our three shops in Guruve working flat out sewing trousers with many pockets out of jean material for vakomana. My old man would get messages of requests for assistance from vakomana through a network of trusted cadres. He would allocate groceries for the fighters from the stock held in our shops and would drive his own car all the way from our farm in the Mazowe farming area with rolls of jean material which he paid for from our own family pocket. Our own tailors, paid by us would do the sewing on our own Singer sewing machines most often by candle-light during the night to escape the observation from unkind eyes that were jealous of the family of foreigners that we were and that had made it in Zimbabwe. I am honoured to say that my late father, I. Milanzi lies buried in Mashonaland Central alongside his sons and daughters, on the farm that was our home until fate changed things for us and the hundreds of workers that served us. A headstone made by Gillepsies (a granite stone company that operated in Hatfield-along the Chitungwiza Road) marks where this great man lies with the inscription: I. Milanzi, Gone 26 July 1990, Always Remembered. I could have said more when I composed that inscription but I did not. So you see, this Zambian has every right to be delving into Zimbabwean politics. It is his right. Having said that, Morgan Tsvangirai and Levy Mwanawasa stand alongside my late father, as the three most influential people in Southern Africa outside South Africa. For me, Levy Mwanawasa was the greatest thing that ever happened to Zambias political scene and exemplary governance (God rest my late Presidents soul) When its comes to Zimbabwe, Morgan Tsvangirai and his political party represent everything that I desire in a political party and its leader. Thus these three men, helped shape my political way of life. My message to my fellow-MdcT cadres is: it wont be easy because no struggle has ever been known to be easy. Hold on to what you got, keep the faith and be wary of the machinations of behind-the-scenes players. Those players are known by the way they come out to heap praise on those people that have gone against our original beliefs. Despite everything, the Red Train chugs on powered by our zeal, our hope and the blood of those gone violently because of what they believed in. God bless us all.
