Not much beats a day like today! My crew and I were allowed to facilitate a citizens last request. After a 32 year career in the US Military this Hero wanted to see his fleet one more time. He lives on the river however his terminal condition did not allow him to walk down the 6 flights of steps to the dock. One of our volunteers had supposedly arranged for 5 USCG Duty vessels to do a pass by. Using the stair chair we were able to get him down to the dock in time to see the 13 USCG duty Boats pass by lights, and crew on the rails saluting. It was an honor for us to make this work out! I am so proud not only to have people in my Department that will go to the trouble to get the 13 Boats and coordinate their arrival! But also to work for a Department that supports us doing things to honor our Veterans! May God Bless Them All!
