Not much can be said after yesterday, can there? It’s one thing - TopicsExpress

Not much can be said after yesterday, can there? It’s one thing to discuss the match and player performances and another to berate someone to the point of making them seem worthless. I’m not putting us up on a perch because we’re not better than others, to be fair. There’s no such thing. But most associate certain qualities with Liverpool and lately, we’ve been failing to live up to the bill on and off the pitch. No one should polish the matter over - I won’t. However, I am a Liverpool supporter, as I trust you all are. I will support my football club through the storm however long need be. That’s what supporters do. Our current position is a far cry from the last days of Rafa’s reign where the feeling of sinking further and further into the abyss was fast becoming a reality. We knew our manager would leave, our team wasn’t performing at the same level as the memorable season before (does 08/09 followed by 09/10 ring a bell?), and we were stuck with stewards (owners they fancied themselves) who could not care any less about our institution. The Hodgeson days we won’t discuss, but we shouldn’t forget them. Those who forget their history are doomed. Thankfully, our Kenny stepped in and restored some of our pride and the feel good factor at Liverpool Football Club. We all believed all was well and it was for a while. We played quality Liverpool pass and move football. We played with a purpose, not at the same level of the 60s, 70s, 80s, and I suppose the 90s under Evans but we got our stride back only to fall back down for whatever the reason the following season. Not that it doesn’t matter because it isn’t wise to repeat the same mistakes, but we have moved on and improved on and off the pitch. Liverpool Football Club is healthy. The point I was trying to make before the history lesson was not to forget the past. It’s been worse. Much worse. But we always bounce back. It’s what Liverpool Football Club is all about. We bounced back from being relegated only to be saved and turned into the Red Machine by one Bill Shankly. We plummeted to a real low during Hillsborough and perhaps the Club has never really recovered, but one can never be the same after anything like that. Recently, the Club was only days from administration until FSG stepped in and the rest is history. We all have ‘not our finest hour’ moments, but we will bounce back. Liverpool always do. Thinking and believing anything else is unacceptable. Life should never be approached in that fashion. Whether it’s you letting someone else down or feeling let down by those you care about - it can always be much worse. The one thing you don’t do is lose hope and give up on someone, in this case the Team. Anything in life worth experiencing takes time. It took over two long decades before the European Cup came back home. We didn’t exactly boss our UCL group in 2004/05, but then the Miracle happened. The season isn’t over yet. Walk on.
