Not one to rest on past success, Ive been asked my priorities for my next term as commissioner. Locally I have several priorities and in no particular order, they are: 1. Pay increases for our deputies and jailers. They are currently over 20% behind their peers at comparable agencies. Its time to take some big swings at this. 2. Continued industrial recruitment 3. Repeal of the Dog Tax and a return to the strategic Animal Control Plan 4. Continue to oppose the PCC 20 year tax increase 5. Continued fiscal scrutiny on all county departments 6. Continue to support our schools State Level 1. Mental Health Reform 2, Increased lottery money to counties 3. Prevent shift of transportation responsibility to counties 4. Public/Private partnership for broadband to our rural areas National Level 1. Mental Health Reform for county jails. (Counties spend 20 million a year) 2. Continue Community Development Grants
