Not only are leaders in Raleigh playing fast and loose with the real numbers for teacher raises, they’ve also mislead the public about local funding, including teacher assistants. They initially claimed they had fully funded all teacher assistant positions, but local districts are discovering that’s another broken promise. What is clear, is that money for teacher assistants has been cut. More than $100 million was cut from teacher assistant funding, which will equate to just under $4 million locally.
