Not only do I write almost every day, I polish as I go. This doesnt mean that I dont polish even more when something is finished, but it means I dont have a bunch of stuff I just wrote and now have to rewrite in a big way. I like to write as tight as I can daily, and then in the end when I go back to polish, thats generally all it needs, a polish. There are exceptions, of course, but for me repairing as I go, and giving myself room for another polish when I finish is more successful for me than numerous drafts. Multiple drafts just make me blue and disinterested. If, however, when Im finished and I read over what Ive written and its close to what I want, then its not so much trouble to do that polish. Im excited and its easier to feel as if Ive accomplished something Sure, proof readers and editors sometimes have great suggestions. You still miss stuff, but you miss less if you mean to miss less right from the start.
