Not only is it National SCOUT Scarf Day, it’s also Day 5 of Bring a Friend week! Craig Miller is one of those exceptional people in life. I was so lucky to meet this man during my time in Rovers, at I Am Moot in 2007. He has since then joined and revolutionised my own crew Right Royal Rovers, and we were even teaching colleagues together at Avondale College. This man epitomises Rover Love, which was evident last night when 50 Rovers gathered together in Auckland to cheer him on, as he took his place at the Commonwealth Games. I had goosebumps when the room erupted in cheers the second he walked onto the screen. Craig has quite literally changed his life, to achieve his dream. Last night, he wrestled on the world stage, representing his country and Scouts everywhere who promise to live with courage and to do their best. It’s courageous to have a dream and aim towards it, but even more brave to have that dream played out on live TV across the world. In the journey to reach my dream of performing in Mamma Mia, if my audition had been beamed out across the nation I would have died! He used his supporters to give him strength. Craig is a dreamer, a doer, a believer, and an inspirer. Last night was another step on his journey, but what makes him even more special, is that he had made his mark on NZ Scouting long before heading to Glasgow. Rover Love to you, Craig Miller. We love you and are so proud of you.
