Not our shelter, and in fact is a fictional story, but it is factual that there are many extenuating circumstances that cause people to give up great pets. It is true there is always an adjustment time; often the new pet mourns the loss of their owner before bonding to the new owner. It is not unusual for us to receive a pet with note from the first owner to go with the new owner to help their pets adjustment. This is worth the read.
