Not ready to announce winners for Chef Challenge yet, but, want to take a few minutes to extend our gratitude and huge thank-yous to everyone who came out for our Vegan Fall Fest & Picnic on Saturday! We had about 200 folks out there, enjoying the festivities. Special kudos to: Glenn Destatte & Mary Rodgers, co-organizers of the event, AND: Brooke & friends from Green Boheme: Best Raw Food booth, best raw ice cream & cinnamon rolls; and totally awesome Green Chiquita Boheme costume award for Chef Brooke! She totally amazed the kiddos with hands-on carved bell peppers n pepper guts activity! (spiralized zucchini & salsa!) Raphael & Team from Capitol Garage: Tofu burritos & more, plus early award for Best Vegan Zombie Murder Mystery Dinner organizers (coming your way in one week!) Best Vegan Nachos: Nacheez & Ilsa Hess, plus the greenergy award for Solar Cooking & more! Angelique & RaeAnn: Best Face Painters, Henna Artists, and temporary tattoo booth! *Special award for Scariest Monster Face to little Anna (...I eat VEGAN food! My favorite vegetable is CELERY!) Best Brownies: donated by Plum Cafe Best Cupcakes: donated by Pushkins Bakery Special thanks to our musical talent: Zane Miller & Friends And to our speakers: Michael Budkie (Stop Animal Exploitation Now!), Jack Norris, RD (Vegan Outreach), Katie Cantrell (Factory Farmed Animal Awareness Coalition), Toni Okamoto (Animal Place & Plant Based on a Budget), Kayle Martin (Cowgirls & Collard Greens) Best Craft Booth: Debbie Rising for make n take Gourd Rattles Best Garden Accessories: Scott Davis for Gnome Homes, plus a Supportive Vegan Husband Award. Hurray for Kaiser nurses doing free BP checks, and to all our amazing vendors: Its Organic, Vegan Society, V-Dog, Vegetarian Society, Well-Being Resource, Mercy for Animals, plus all of the above-represented presenters booths, Thank you to volunteers from Bella Vista High School Vegetarian Club, Mort the Sport, and all of the great volunteers who came together to support the event from Vegan Society & Vegetarian Society EVERYONE was a winner that day, Thank you so much for all of the help, energy & enthusiasm!!! Camp Pollock was a GREAT venue, and we are greatly appreciative of their team support, as well.
