Not sure if I told this story on here or not, but, since its the 25th yr since this song was released I thought Id share how first I heard it..... 1990 NBL Nationals at Woodward Camp in PA. In addition to having a bmx race, the NBL was also holding a freestyle contest there. I travelled to PA with George Gallo, Brian Ulrich, and Joe Gruttola. Pretty sure uncle Brett Downs on hand, as he is everywhere bmx is. Now, there were hundreds of bmx maniacs at camp desperately wanting to ride their bikes...unfortunately, the rain had been coming down for two days so the track was shot, and all the ramps were wet.... In those days, Woodward didnt have indoor facilities!!!(its true whippersnappers) sooooo, an impromptu dance party happened, as Brett had his trusty boom box with him. Now, things we quite jovial for about 20 minutes..a record if you ask me, but then one China Krys Darrington started to dance in her...ummm, unorthodox way. I believe the track was off the new(at that point) MBM album 99%. Well, that peaked the interest of a rather large and horny bmx titan...who started gyrations of his own..all over China. This prompted George to switch the track to help facilitate a more...aggressive tone...so out comes Tin Omenby Skinny Puppy. What was a dance party became a bloody mosh pit of rain soaked, blood thirsty prepubescents!!! Serious, it went from Zero to absolute pandemonium in a nanosecond!! Hahaha! We were kicked out of the gymnastic area, where the dancing and moshing had been taking place, and were told to shut the music off. All off us were now loitering by the pool, which was not open as it was only May. It was then that Gallo uttered a word I will never forget...not because of the word itself, nothing special about the word music in most cases, but, when spoken by Gallo...at precisely the moment that the mob was dispersing, and in the tone of a warped conductor, well, how can anything but a riot not ensue?? Once the beat dropped people began throwing anything and anyone, that wasnt nailed down into the pool!!! It was beautiful!!!! At that point myself, Brian, Brett, Joe, George and China hightailed it to our rooms to avoid the wrath of one Gary Ream!!! It was amazing...like the song...give it a listen, and see if it makes you do something exciting!!!! The song is also relevant today, as it is about the Kent State Riots...and riots seem to be on our collective minds. These days it seems, All good people are a sleep and dreaming youtu.be/FIyL8ti3SME
