Not sure if this is the correct forum for it but thought Id ask anyway. Say youre in a situation where youre mountaineering and your helmet is struck by an object damaging it enough to consider retirement but youre unable to replace it as youre too far from a gear store. Is there any possibility that continuing use of the helmet where youre at risk of being struck again would be worse than not wearing it? It seems obvious that youd be better wearing it than not but Im curious to know if theres reasonable assumption that a sitatuation could be made worse by an inferior helmet.
