Not sure where exactly to start here. I was just diagnosed officially with ITP a month or so ago, and have gone through the ride if my life in this very short time. I work in a hospital lab and was getting fed up with being so exhausted all the time, so I took matters into my own hands to start investigating. Went to the ER to have them start tests and came back with a plt level of 11k. So the adventures and hospitalization began. Ive had the bone marrow biopsy and ultrasound done on my spleen and bone marrow showed slight abnormality but not enough to pinpoint anything more serious at this time, ultrasound showed slight enlargement of the spleen but again not enough to push the splenectomy just yet. We started with 2 weeks of prednisone immediately after noticing what the possibility of having the disease. The Prednisone brought me up to a 28k in the sort first week but then noticed dropping back to 12k the following week. Immediately after my Dr suggested the Dex and the side effects have been atrocious, although the 4 day treatment brought us into a semi-remission grace... or so I thought. Not even a week after I landed another 13k level, so the Dr put me back on the Dex for another 4 days which I completed as of last night. He also doesnt want to waste anymore time and would like to start me on the ivig immediately just pending insurance verification at the moment. This has been slightly difficult with family and friends since no one has heard of ITP around here just dont know how to explain or where to get the support I need to get my head on straight. Prayers and help please. Also if there are any ideas or thoughts on what I should do going forward with the treatment options please feel free to weigh in. Sorry for the long book just looking to give enough info out there to get proper help.
