Not ten minutes ago, just before the park closed on the 151st - TopicsExpress

Not ten minutes ago, just before the park closed on the 151st anniversary of July 2, 1863, I sat next to Warrens rock on Little Round Top in complete and total solitude and silence, with the fireflies dimly illuminating the Valley of Death and Houcks Ridge. The only thing I can hear are the motorists on the Emmitsburg Road distant. It is both saddening and a reassuring comfort to sit here, as I imagine the cries of men not just wounded, but crying for their mothers, their wives, their blood brothers lost earlier that day, just 151 years ago. I am glad, thankful that these men, who here shed their tears, their lifeblood, did not fight in vain.
