Not that I ever had much use for Rolling Stone magazine, but I - TopicsExpress

Not that I ever had much use for Rolling Stone magazine, but I shall never view their garbage ever again. I just skimmed through a 100 greatest guitarists of all time article that they had the nerve to publish. The top 20 included The Edge from U2 and Joey Ramone. That was enough to make me want to vomit razor blades. Nothing against either player... But a career built on power chords shouldnt land you on any kind of great guitarist list. Might as well have put Billy Joe Armstrong as #1. Where I really wanted to cry was at #s 13-11. 13- Jerry Garcia 12- Kurt Kobain 11- Kirk Hammett They seriously put Kirk Hammett and Kurt Kobain ahead of Jerry Garcia. I have no problems with Kurt or Kirk. But COME ON!!! If Kurt were still alive today, nobody would give a crap about him. Just another case of a guy killing himself and being made a hero. I knew how to play every single Nirvana song there was just 2 weeks after I first laid my hands on a guitar. But Jerry Garcia... That guy belongs below Kurt Kobain. What in the blue hell? Not to mention that Eddie Van Halen placed at #62. I suppose Kurt Kobain belongs fifty spots above the EVH. Its 6:00AM and I need whiskey. I know... Rolling Stone is irrelevant, and has been for years. But I cant get over the fact that some poor idiot will read that list and actually believe that, in the grand scheme of things, Kurt Kobain, The Edge and Joey Ramone are/were some sort of unimaginably talented guitar virtuosos. Sorry guys... Rant over.
