Not that I wasnt aware about it before.. but now I got the technical terms for Coping in regards to inside corner work for trims - moldings. Days ago I found a lonely library book on trim carpentry .. anyhoo decided I best watch a video rather than stare at the pictures.. https://youtube/watch?v=W8ccy0wLErQ . I understood the whys / why its used (due to shrinkage in the wood that can occur) ..but still spent almost an hour watching the video ... reading on it.. making sure I mentally understood it. Despite usually having a good visual grasp on things my mind just couldnt seem to grasp specifically what was being done on the top part of the cut after the initial 45 degree cut. Obviously it was just so there would be a cover/ hat like visualness for the top area where the two pieces of wood met at the corner. Also looking at the wikipedia it was neat to be reminded how different American english can be compared to oh other english speaking countries and to be fair wikpedia would alternate in using the word coping and scribing. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coping_(joinery) I think if the guy showed the scrap he had just cut that might of helped but I probably needed the mental exercise.
