Not that I would want to defend the driver in this video, but I - TopicsExpress

Not that I would want to defend the driver in this video, but I surely have an even more difficult time siding with the overzealous officer insisting on arresting a mother with four of her children in the back seat over her confusion and her discomfort with committing to sign a simple traffic citation (driving 16 mph over the posted speed limit). I guess the lesson here is that since law enforcement agencies seem to have a habit (as we can see in more and more videos on the news) of finding it more important to arrest and put people in jail for sometimes the most ridiculous reasons, than to have mandatory basic psychology trainings for the bullies they choose to employ and arm, its probably safer not to resist them, if one happens to be confused over his or her legal rights and options at a traffic stop. Even spending a night in jail for refusing to give in to a bully is still better, than having your children shot by an idiot in police uniform, or being strangled to death (youtu.be/En5linhM7Qo). Since we can surely not count on the police to actually help by being objectively informative and considerate of the actual circumstances during such encounters, perhaps I should take the opportunity here to ask the attorneys in this group, if they happen to know what are the laws in Illinois related to signing a citation - hopefully one of them happens to read this... And a second question: what agency is one supposed to call during an eventual encounter with an abusive law enforcement agent, if one is actually justifiably worried about his/her own safety?
