Not too long ago someone asked what got us into old time radio. For me, I was maybe 9 or 10 years old and for some reason I bought a cassette tape of old radio commercials at Walden Bookstore (anyone remember that place?) I would listen to it over and over again and loved it. Then in school (4th or 5th grade) we had a reading lesson that had us reading out loud the classic Whos on First? routine. My teacher had us also listen to a recording of it. I told her about my tape of commercials and she asked me to bring it in and we listened to that as a class. From that point I was hooked and began buying tapes of shows from the catalog companies and even checking tapes out of the library! I would listen to them with my grandparents who heard them originally broadcast and theyd tell stories about listening to the radio during the depression. Now, 25 years later, I have a ten month old daughter and I look forward to the day I can share these programs with her. Its a great hobby!
