Not too sure what to think about this... it could be an awkward attempt to support feminism but although its obviously linked to Emma Watsons He for She campaign its more likely that Karl Lagerfeld is riding the trend of feminism. women and especially young women feel a tremendous pressure to conform to beauty as promoted by the patriarchal society. On most instances the fashion industry is a big part of this problem. Im not saying that fashion is not a place where feminist debate can take place but if fashion/the fashion industry does want to engage in this debate, there needs to be some reflection about it, or else it risks to look unsubstantial and ironic. Enrolling an army of physically formatted women (i.e young, tall, beautiful, skinny, white) to talk about feminism feels ironic as formulaic beauty is something that feminists tend to want to separate themselves from. The only thing that differentiate this catwalk from any other is the signs that the models are carrying, they are styled as feminists. Youhou! What a revolution! Obviously I dont have anything against young, tall, beautiful, skinny, white women being feminists, I think its great!
